  • One-pound Pork, freshly ground
  • Two fresh garlic cloves, coarsely chopped 
  • ½ cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • Three scallions, finely chopped
  • ½ cup seasoned Italian bread crumbs 
  • ½ tsp spicy red pepper sauce
  • ½ teaspoon ketchup
  • Two whole wheat pita bread, split into two with pocket open 
  • Alfa sprouts as a garnish


  1. Preheat the oven to broil.
  2. Mix minced pork, garlic, scallions, spinach, bread crumbs, hot pepper sauce, and Worcestershire sauce in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Stir well to combine, then divide into four equal-sized patties.
  4. Set patties on a broiler pan and place 4 inches under the broiler in the oven.
  5. Broil burgers for 6 minutes on each side, flipping only once. 
  6. Cook until the middle of the pie is no longer pink. 
  7. Remove the dish from the oven.
  8. Place each burger in a pita pocket and top with preferred toppings.
